We 2 R Poets

In partnership with Wake County Schools, The Regal House Initiative, undertook a poetry initiative to benefit the Wake County’s title 1 schools.

Celebrating a successful 2019 We 2 R Poets Project.

The We 2 R Poets initiative was born out of the results of a survey administered by the National Endowment of the Arts earlier this year that showed an unprecedented peak in the popularity of poetry.

We sought to help foster this love of language and composition, the joy of poetic expression, and instill a pride in publication in our youngest generation. In partnership with Wake County Schools, and representing The Regal House Initiative, Michelle Rosquillo, Jaynie Royal, and Pam Van Dyk conducted a poetry workshop at three schools and invited the children to submit a poem of their own composition for a poetry collection which was published under our Fitzroy Books imprint. A copy of the We 2 R Poets collection was donated to each participating classroom and two copies to each school’s library so that the children might enjoy the pride of seeing their own words in a professional publication within their own school library.
